It’s widely accepted that the demands of the veterinary profession, exacerbated by factors including staff shortages, barriers to accessing veterinary medicines, and the legacy of the COVID-19 pandemic, are adversely affecting the mental wellbeing and physical health of many veterinary professionals and causing unacceptable levels of stress and burnout.

The WSAVA’s Professional Wellness Group (PWG) works to improve the health and well-being of all members of the veterinary team.  Its forthcoming WSAVA Global Guidelines for Professional Wellbeing are an important step towards bringing about positive change and enhancing the wellbeing of all veterinarians globally.

For those who would like to develop their knowledge further, the WSAVA Certificate in Professional Development and Personal Wellbeing will be launched later this year.  It offers learners a space in which to build a personal career development roadmap, underpinned with the principles of wellbeing and self-care.
