We are excited to announce that we are now accepting nominations for our 2025 Awards. These prestigious Awards recognize veterinary professionals from all backgrounds, generations, and regions who are creating positive change for companion animals and the people who care for them.

Nominations are invited in the following categories:

WSAVA International Award for Scientific Achievement

This award is based on outstanding contributions by a veterinarian who has had a significant impact on the advancement of knowledge concerning the cause, detection, cure and/or control of disorders of companion animals.

WSAVA Global Meritorious Service Award

The Award, which is to be presented annually during the WSAVA Congress, is awarded to a veterinarian who in the opinion of the judges has contributed meritorious service to the global veterinary profession in the broadest sense, which may be as a general practitioner, an academic veterinary surgeon, or a veterinarian working in management or for a company.

WSAVA Companion Animal Welfare Award

This award is presented to a veterinarian (or veterinary-team member) in recognition of that individual’s contribution to companion animal welfare at a local regional or international level. This contribution may relate to leadership, public service, education, research, product development, and/or advocacy. The award is intended to not only recognise this important contribution, but to increase the global community’s awareness of the essential role veterinarians and the veterinary team play as advocates of animal welfare.

WSAVA Future Leaders award

This Award, kindly supported by Hill’s Pet Nutrition, acknowledges the work of a veterinarian, graduated within the last ten years, who has contributed significantly to the betterment of companion animals, the veterinary profession and society at large.

WSAVA Global One Health Award

This Award is based on exemplary service by an individual or organisation, who has promoted the global One Health Concept, and, in particular, has highlighted an aspect of small companion animal relevance to the One Health Agenda.

All WSAVA Award recipients receive free registration for WSAVA World Congress, which, this year, takes place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from September 25-27. They also receive support with travel and accommodation.
