Professional Wellness Committee

Goal

The Professional Wellness Committee works to advance the mental health, physical wellness and welfare of our members around the world and to help them enjoy sustainable and rewarding careers.

Objectives

  • Provide expert, evidence-based information and education, including global guidelines, to support the wellbeing of veterinary teams.

  • Review state-of-the art thinking and provide a WSAVA perspective on professional wellness that recognizes regional, economic and cultural differences.

History

The PWG was created in 2019 to support a profession increasingly characterized by staff retention and low morale, caused by factors including burnout, stress and compassion fatigue and to provide positive and practical solutions.
