Dr Derick Chibeu

Dr. Derick Chibeu is a veterinarian with over 25 years of experience in clinical practice, professional leadership, and animal welfare advocacy in Kenya and Sub-Saharan Africa. A graduate of the University of Nairobi, he has been instrumental in advancing veterinary standards, especially in underserved communities. As a founding member and former Chair of the Kenya Small and Companion Animal Veterinary Association (KESCAVA), he grew the organization from 10 to 150 members, established critical guidelines for vaccination and spay/neuter programs, and spearheaded rabies control campaigns that have enhanced wildlife conservation and public health.

Dr. Chibeu has held leadership roles with the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) as Co-Chair of the Professional Wellness Group and Continuing Education Coordinator for Southern Africa. He also serves as a board member for the African Small and Companion Animal Network (AFSCAN) and of the Kenya Veterinary Board of Directors. His dedication to fostering regional integration, supporting professional growth, and promoting companion animal welfare underscores his commitment to advancing the veterinary profession and improving animal health across Africa.
