The Dental Committee works to support our members in improving the oral health of companion animals worldwide.
Objectives
Promote the importance of veterinary dentistry globally
Raise standards of veterinary care for companion animals globally by creating educational resources, including global guidelines, to support veterinary teams and pet owners.
History
With veterinary dentistry widely viewed as being undervalued and overlooked in many parts of the world despite the suffering oral health issues cause to many companion animals, the GDC was initially created in 2015(?) to create a set of WSAVA Global Guidelines in this area. Since the publication of its Guidelines, it has continued its work to educate WSAVA members as to the importance of veterinary dentistry and to advance veterinary dentistry skills globally.
