Meet the Global Nutrition Committee (GNC)

Find out more about its important work and the resources it offers you

What are the GNC’s goals?
  • To enhance awareness among the veterinary healthcare team and the public as to nutrition’s vital role in optimum pet health
  • To advocate for nutrition as a key component in all veterinary and veterinary nurse/technician curricula
  • To promote the importance of performing a nutritional assessment on every animal at every visit, and to make specific nutritional recommendations for each patient as an integral component of patient care
  • To advance the central role of the veterinary healthcare team as the expert source of information for optimal pet nutrition.

What else is the GNC up to in 2020?
  • Don’t miss a full day of clinical nutrition lectures delivered by GNC members, plus three hours of nutrition talks for nurses/technicians during #WSAVA2020 in Warsaw in September
  • Catch GNC members at other global veterinary congresses during the year, including the International Veterinary Student Association (IVSA) Congress in Greece in July at which Dr Cecilia Villaverde will discuss the nutritional management of acute and chronic enteropathies
  • GNC Members are finalizing the results of a nutritional assessment awareness survey they have recently conducted. Stay tuned for feedback on this later in the year!
A thank you

The GNC could not do its work with the fantastic support it receives from our industry partners. A very big thank you to:
