WSAVA Veterinarians for Peace and Compassion – updated 21.8

Dear WSAVA members,

As an inclusive global community of veterinarians, our thoughts are with all of those, especially members of the Ukrainian Small Animal Veterinary Association, who have been caught up in this war.

The veterinary profession is built on compassion and respect for the lives of humans and animals. WSAVA members share a dedication to improve the welfare of our patients and their owners and to support their fellow members in difficult times. We are supporting veterinary teams and animals in the affected regions by:

• Continuing to work with all WSAVA member associations that strive for the welfare and wellbeing of humans and their companion animals

• Securing supplies of pet food and other essential supplies through our member associations, other veterinary stakeholders and industry partners

• Creating a network of contacts on the ground in Ukraine and neighboring countries who can deliver the supplies

• Discussing with our network other ways in which we can help in this terrible situation.

Below we have listed all known connections and initiatives we are aware of. Please note that they are not ‘WSAVA-endorsed’ but, in view of the urgency, we wanted to list a range of different ways to help.
