The WSAVA Pain Committee held a two-day retreat in Milan, Italy, between April 28 and 29, 2025. The main purpose of the retreat was to prepare, record, and write materials for WSAVA Pain Awareness Month, an important upcoming initiative scheduled for September 2025. It also allowed new and existing committee members to meet face to face for the first time. The committee revisited its mission and vision and discussed future perspectives and directions.
A Pain Summit is also being organized by Animals Asia in collaboration with the WSAVA Pain Committee in Chengdu, China, from November 17–19. The event will bring together both local and international speakers.
The group is continuing with new “capsule reviews” to be published in the Journal of Small Animal Practice.
Jo Murrell and Paulo Steagall, Co-Chairs of the committee, highlighted: “The Pain Committee had an incredible face-to-face meeting, and we cannot wait to share our activities with our community and continue to promote pain awareness.”
