Strategic Advisory Committee

Goal

The Strategic Advisory Committee (SAC) supports WSAVA’s mission by identifying, analyzing, and prioritizing emerging trends shaping companion animal veterinary practice worldwide. As the profession evolves—driven by technological innovation, shifting client expectations, and changing global health and regulatory landscapes—the SAC ensures WSAVA remains proactive in guiding its members with timely resources, education, and advocacy.

By monitoring both clinical and non-clinical developments, the SAC provides strategic insight that strengthens global veterinary practice and enhances the profession’s ability to adapt and thrive in an increasingly complex environment.

Objectives

  • Monitor Global Trends: Capture and analyze data on key clinical and non-clinical trends affecting companion animal veterinary practice worldwide.

  • Assess Impact: Evaluate how identified trends may influence veterinary professionals, clinical outcomes, practice management, the broader veterinary profession, and companion-animal health.

  • Prioritize Strategic Issues: Identify and prioritize trends with the greatest potential to advance companion animal veterinary practice and support WSAVA’s mission.

  • Recommend Strategic Actions: Provide the WSAVA Executive Board with evidence-based recommendations for developing resources, education, advocacy initiatives, and professional support aligned with emerging trends.

  • Strengthen Alignment Across WSAVA: Collaborate with the WSAVA Secretariat to ensure committees and project groups have clear direction and work plans in line with their terms of reference and WSAVA’s strategic goals.

  • Report to the Executive Board: Submit regular reports—aligned with the Board’s biannual strategic review meetings—summarizing emerging trends, priorities, and proposed actions.
