The WSAVA was sad to hear of the passing of Dr Roger Clarke at the end of 2023.  Dr Clarke held leadership roles with the Australian Veterinary Association and Australian Small Animal Vets for many years and made an immense contribution to the veterinary profession in Australia.  He was also a passionate advocate of collaboration within the Oceania region through his involvement with the Federation of Asian Small Animal Veterinary Associations.

Dr Clarke also held key roles within the WSAVA.  WSAVA President Ellen van Nierop says: “Dr Clarke’s huge contribution to companion animal practice, both in Australia and in the wider Oceania region, is reflected in the many initiatives to advance veterinary practice and support animal welfare that he was instrumental in launching and the variety of association leadership roles he held.

“Dr Clarke also played a key role in the WSAVA, first as member representative for Australia and, later, as Regional Representative for WSAVA Continuing Education in Asia.  His commitment to supporting developing countries with continuing education is an inspiration to us all and remains a key pillar of the WSAVA’s work today.”
