The donation has been made in memory of Emeritus Professor Michael Day
Our dear friend and colleague, the late Emeritus Professor Michael Day, was this year’s recipient of the WSAVA Award for Global Meritorious Service. The Award is kindly supported by the Dr Mukti Narayan Praveena Foundation Nepal (DMNPF Nepal) and is presented annually to a veterinarian who has contributed meritorious service to the veterinary profession in the broadest sense.
Dr Shrestha, Founder and the Chair of DMNPF Nepal, was due to present the Award to Michael’s family during #WSAVAPoland in March but as the event is now fully virtual, he has, instead, decided to donate $2,000 to Mission Rabies, a charity of which Michael was Honorary President, having strongly supported its work for many years.

Dr Mukti Shresta
We have great pleasure in making this donation to Mission Rabies in memory of Professor Michael Day. He was a distinguished figure on the global veterinary stage, who contributed global meritorious service to the veterinary profession and believed strongly in the work of Mission Rabies.

Dr Luke Gamble, CEO of Mission Rabies, says: “This donation in memory of Michael means so much to us. He was instrumental in getting Mission Rabies to where it is today and we miss him very much. We are honored that the Dr Mukti Narayan Praveena Foundation Nepal has chosen to make this donation to us and it will be used to continue our work to control rabies around the world – a cause Michael was passionate about.”
