Leadership and management are essential to thriving veterinary teams, yet it can be difficult to find resources designed specifically for the veterinary profession. With leadership often receiving limited focus within veterinary education, many professionals are left to develop these skills while already working in demanding clinical or organisational roles.
That is why the VMG Leadership Standards Framework (LSF) is so valuable. As a leader you can use the framework to assess yourself against specific veterinary leadership criteria and then use our newly launched and free to members professional development planning course to interpret your results, identify priorities and plan your ongoing development. As a leader continuous development is key and the framework and accompanying course is designed to be used again and again for each Continuing Education cycle.

As well as receiving an individual report, anonymous data is collected from the LSF which contributes to ongoing veterinary leadership research globally.

VMG also provide accredited leadership training championing the Qualified Veterinary Leader. Mike Kitchen, DVLM, (residing in the UAE) tutor on the certificate and diploma in veterinary leadership and management and part of the WSAVA strategic advisory board advises “Veterinary specific leadership training has real value for veterinary leaders.
