This first-of-its-kind initiative will form the foundation of the upcoming Global State of Companion Animal Veterinary Practice Report—a major new WSAVA publication that will provide critical insights to support veterinary professionals, strengthen national associations, and inform global advocacy and action.
At its heart, the survey is about ensuring that the voices of those working in companion animal veterinary practice are heard, represented, and championed on a global stage.
Who should take part?
The survey is open to anyone working within companion animal veterinary practice, with a particular emphasis on those in clinical practice settings, including veterinarians, veterinary nurses, and veterinary technicians.
Why participate?
By taking part, respondents will contribute directly to a global evidence base that will help shape the future of the profession. The strength and impact of the final report will depend on the breadth and diversity of participation—making every response invaluable.
As a thank you, participants will also have the opportunity to enter a prize draw, with the chance to win either:
- A complimentary registration to WSAVA Congress, or
- Credits for the WSAVA Academy
Accessible and flexible participation
To support global engagement, the survey will be also available in multiple languages, including English, Chinese, Spanish, Japanese, French, German, Italian, and Portuguese.
The survey takes approximately 20–25 minutes to complete and can be saved, allowing participants to return and finish it at a time that suits them.
A global effort, supported by partners
This important project has been made possible through the generous support of WSAVA Diamond Partner, the Purina Institute.
WSAVA President Dr Jim Berry said: “This survey represents an unique opportunity to better understand the realities, challenges, and opportunities shaping companion animal veterinary practice around the world. By listening directly to veterinary professionals, we can help ensure that future initiatives, advocacy efforts, and educational resources are informed by the real needs and experiences of our global community. We are extremely grateful to the Purina Institute for supporting this landmark project.”
“As WSAVA’s Diamond Sponsor, we are proud to support this first-of-its-kind global report, which will help ensure that decisions affecting companion animal health, veterinary wellbeing, and education are informed by the real experiences of veterinary professionals worldwide” said Jason Gagné, Director of External Relations, Purina Institute.
Looking ahead
The survey will remain open for several weeks, with findings contributing to the Global State of Companion Animal Veterinary Practice Report, to be published later in 2026. Interim insights will be unveiled at the upcoming WSAVA Congress 2026, in Warsaw, Poland.
By participating, veterinary professionals around the world have a unique opportunity to contribute to a collective understanding of the profession—and to help shape its future. Take part today and help ensure the global voice of companion animal veterinary practice is heard.
