19 members of WSAVA member the Philippines Animal Hospital Association and the Philippine Veterinary Medical Association will head to Pai, Thailand from 18-20 June to complete a mass spay/neuter project in collaboration with the Santisook Dogs and Cats Rescue Foundation.

Those participating are highly experiences spay/neuter surgeons, who regularly take part in free spay/neuter campaigns in the Philippines and also run training sessions to help colleagues to learn techniques to carry out these procedures, quickly and cost-effectively.

PAHA and PVMA Past President Dr Joy Santos explains: “PAHA members believe that pet population control is an integral part of rabies elimination, as well as supporting animal welfare and responsible pet ownership. Members of our team are paying our own travel and accommodation costs because we have a passion for spay/neuter and want to help as many animals as we can.  As we also enjoy travelling, it is a great opportunity to experience a new country and culture.

“The commitment of PAHA members to contribute to spay/neuter projects is a demonstration of our enthusiasm to be active members of the WSAVA’s global veterinary community.  We also have a great desire to learn and hone our skills.  This is why so many of our members are looking forward to attending WSAVA World Congress in Lisbon in September.  It’s the one international event we all really look forward to each year.”
