The Therapeutics Guidelines Committee works to monitor and address issues of antimicrobial resistance and therapeutic drug availability as they affect the global companion animal community, and to provide guidance as to a collaborative approach to address these challenges through CE, minimum standards, and partner engagement, based on an evidence-based medicine approach.
Ensure best practices for the selection and use of companion animal medicines including their quality, and responsible use in companion animals
Support the equitable access of companion animal veterinary medicines globally
Veterinarians rely on nutritional, chemical, pharmaceutical, and biological products to enable them to effectively prevent, diagnose, and treat the various illnesses that afflict companion animals. While varying in incidence, these conditions are global in scope and benefit from a common approach to their diagnosis and management. The two most pressing issues are the threat of antimicrobial resistance and the lack of access to basic veterinary medicines experienced by veterinarians in many parts of the world. The TGG was established to tackle these challenges.
