New Global Pain Guidelines in preparation

The latest thinking will soon be available for free download by our members

The WSAVA’s Global Pain Guidelines, authored by the GPC, are one of its most valued and frequently accessed resources. To ensure members continue benefit from the very latest thinking on all aspects of pain assessment and management, GPC members are currently updating the content to provide the most up-to-date evidence-based recommendations on pain management.

When they are published, later this year or early in 2022, the revised Global Pain Guidelines will include new chapters and a range of useful diagrams and infographics. The content will be applicable to our members, wherever they are, taking into account the differing availability of analgesic products in differing regions of the world.

Our updated Global Pain Guidelines will teach veterinarians, veterinary technicians/nurses and students about pain physiology, as well as about the assessment and treatment of pain in small animals. The Guidelines will also include several options of protocols for common painful conditions in small animal practice.

Much has changed in the practice of pain management since we published the first Guidelines in 2014 and we’re looking forward to bringing WSAVA members up to date.

The new Global Pain Guidelines will be available first in English then, thanks to the WSAVA’s Translation Group, in a range of other languages.
