The GPC has been collaborating with the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management (IVAPM) and the WSAVA’s official scientific journal, the Journal of Small Animal Practice (JSAP), to create a series of ‘capsule reviews.’ These are short open-access articles, authored by members of the GPC. Each offers an overview of the scientific evidence and practical recommendations on an important, sometimes controversial, aspect of pain management.
The latest in the series is being finalized and will be available shortly and will focus on the assessment of quality of life in ageing cats.

Previous capsule reviews have focused on the long-term use of NSAIDs in cats with chronic pain and chronic kidney disease; the use of intraperitoneal and incisional local anesthetic for the management of acute pain, and the use of ice therapy in small animal practice. Thanks to volunteer members of the IVAPM, each review has been translated into up to 12 languages.
