WSAVA Committees welcome new members

 

Members from around the world step up to committee roles

Our Committees are our ‘engine room’ as their hard-working volunteers deliver the thought leadership, continuing education and resources to support our members in advancing companion animal care.

We recently put out a call for new members for two Committees and received a great response. All applicants underwent a formal selection process, with their applications assessed first by our Leadership and Nomination Committee and then by the Committee they wished to join. Once selected, the proposed new members were put forward to the WSAVA Executive Board for ratification.

Global Nutrition Committee

Dr Scott Campbell BVSc, MANZCVS, DACVN from Australia has joined the Global Nutrition Committee. Dr Campbell is a Diplomate of the American College of Nutrition and a member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in the small animal medicine chapter. He is currently working as a clinic director and partner in a small animal practice in Australia as well as lecturing at the University of Queensland.

Co-Chair of the WSAVA Global Nutrition Committee
Dr Campbell combines general medicine clinical expertise and skills, together with considerable nutrition knowledge and experience. He has an excellent history of providing small animal nutrition education to veterinary practitioners in lectures and in advisory positions and has numerous publications in small animal nutrition. His location in Australia provides geographic diversity for the committee.

Congress Steering Committee

Dr Gopinathan Gangadharan – representing Oceania
Dr Gangadharan practices in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and is a founder member and current President of the Malaysian Small Animal Veterinary Association. He is also a member of the Malaysian Veterinary Council and Honorary Secretary of the Federation of Asian Small Animal Veterinary Associations.

Dr Natalie Lloyd – representing Oceania
Dr Lloyd is Companion Animal Veterinary Adviser and Companion Animal Outcomes Research Ambassador for Zoetis New Zealand, a role which involves her in talking to veterinarians across the country. Before moving into industry, she owned her own clinic with her husband and has also worked as an employee veterinarian and as a locum.

Professor Lisa Mestrinho – representing Europe/Africa
Professor Lisa Mestrinho is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Lisbon, Portugal. She is a Past President of the Associacao Portugesa de Medicos Veterinarios Especialistas em Animais de Companhia and is the current Chair of its General Assembly and of its Scientific Committee. She has extensive experience in congress and CE organization and coordination.

While the COVID-19 pandemic has caused great difficulty, it has enabled the Congress Steering Committee to help re-define how the World Congress should be delivered and we are looking forward to the contribution of our newest members as we shape its future.
