Applications are now open for the 2023 NAVC Colin F. Burrows International Scholar Program, which offers veterinarians who are active in CE in their region, the opportunity to attend VMX in January 2023 in Florida, USA.
NAVC, a long-term Educational Partner of the WSAVA, partners with us in selecting at least three candidates each year, one from each of the three WSAVA Regions (Europe, Africa and the Middle East; Asia and Oceania and the Americas). An additional candidate is selected from Africa and is nominated by the Board of the WSAVA Foundation’s African Small Companion Animal Network (AFSCAN).

WSAVA Assembly member association representatives are invited to nominate one candidate from their country’s association. Preference is given to applicants who are active members of their association and who have the potential to develop and support CE in their region.
What do NAVC Colin F. Burrows International Scholars receive at VMX?
Scholars attend an initial orientation session and are invited to develop an individual personalized curriculum to include:
- attendance at lectures of their choice
- insights into the registration process
- a tour of the exhibit hall and a demonstration of exhibitor registration
- a tour of the ‘hands-on’ laboratories
- attendance at all formal NAVC conference functions.
The Scholarship also covers airfare, registration, hotel, proceedings and a host for VMX.

The deadline is Monday 1 August 2022.
NB: as the Program did not run in 2021 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the applications of individuals who were nominated in these years will also be considered alongside applications made this year if they are still appropriate.
