Dr Gil Ben-Shlomo, President of WSAVA member ISVO

 

A sad loss to global veterinary ophthalmology

We send our sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Dr Gil Ben-Shlomo, President of the WSAVA affiliate member the International Society of Veterinary Ophthalmology (ISVO), who died in October 2020, aged 50.

Dr Gil Ben-Shlomo

Dr Ben-Shlomo was Associate Professor, Section Ophthalmology at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, USA. He made a huge contribution to ISVO, joining the board in 2015 and becoming its President in 2019. He also contributed to the WSAVA, for instance, in helping to set up a successful ISVO pre-congress meeting ahead of #WSAVA2016 in Cartagena, Colombia.

He is a great loss to veterinary ophthalmology and will be sorely missed. A recent issue of ISVO’s newsletter, The Globe, was devoted to Dr Ben-Shlomo’s achievements.
