The WSAVA is campaigning to resolve the global inequities in accessing veterinary medicines that cause significant difficulties to many of our members.

The WSAVA Essential Medicines List for Cats and Dogs, developed by our Therapeutics Guidelines Group, was the first step in our campaign. It is already supporting regulatory decision-making around licensing, registration and approval, as well as assisting with pharmacovigilance.

As part of its three-year review, we commenced an open audit of the Essential Medicines List on January 9, 2023 and are keen to receive feedback from our members as to the core and complementary medicines for treating the most frequent and important diseases in small animal companion medicine.  We will then launch an updated version of the Essential Medicines List later this year.

Before making your comments, you can review the definitions of core and complementary essential medicines in the first edition here: https://bit.ly/3aJAUOM
