Could you introduce yourself and your new role to our members?
Hello everyone. My name is Barun.
I am responsible for managing the Learning Management System, overseeing other learning-related technologies, providing support to our learners, and coordinating with our eLearning vendors.
Could you tell us a bit about your career before joining the WSAVA?
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Applications, an MBA in Marketing, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Instructional Design. I began my career as an academic content consultant, dedicating five years to this role. For the past seven years, I have focused on Learning and Development (L&D) operations, technology, and instructional design, particularly within the IT industry.
What attracted you to this role with the WSAVA?
I’ve been involved with animal welfare for the past couple of years, which has been incredibly rewarding. One day, while casually surfing through LinkedIn, I stumbled upon this opening. It felt like the perfect fit, blending my passions for animal welfare, learning and development, and technology.
What are your immediate priorities?
I am currently focused on selecting the most effective learning management system. In the coming months, we will be transitioning all our courses from the current platform to the new system, ensuring an enhanced experience for our learners.
What do you enjoy doing outside work?
Outside of work, I love hitting the road for fun drives, playing with my adorable rabbit, catching the latest movies, and having a blast hanging out with my friends. Life is always an adventure!
