It’s All in The Genes: Using Genetics, Genetic Testing, and Genetic Counseling to Improve Patient Health – a RACE-accredited course from VIN with WSAVA Hereditary Disease Committee, Dr Jerold Bell
As veterinary genetics continues to advance, this two-part course explores the latest thinking in areas including the different genetic backgrounds of dogs and cats; common genetic diseases and approaches we can take to alter the expression of genetic disease in predisposed patients. The course also covers genetic screening for pet and breeding animals and the different types of genetic tests now available. Concepts and methods of genetic counseling for pet and breeding dogs and cats will also be discussed, together with advice on the veterinarian’s role in improving the genetic health of our patients through appropriate pre-breeding health screening and assessments.
Note: you are not required to watch the ‘Real Time Sessions’ live. The sessions will be recorded and made available on the course webpage approximately 24 hours after the session.
