During 2020, the WSAVA Secretariat invested in two new team members, Jacinta Johnson and Amarni Wood, to enhance the quality of communication and support we offer to our Committees, members and external stakeholders:

What are your impressions of the WSAVA since you joined the team?
Over the years, my focus professionally and personally has been animal protection and non-profit organisations and I have always admired the great work WSAVA does in the veterinary community. Naturally I was thrilled to be welcomed into the WSAVA team last August. It is a privilege and a pleasure to be supporting the Secretariat, Committees and Board! Everyone on the team is efficient, highly-skilled and dedicated — I am very happy to be learning from them as we move from one project to the next 🙂
What do you most enjoy about your role?
I enjoy being able to work on a variety of projects — from the podcast branding to social media campaigns to media coverage monitoring!
What are you most proud of so far?
I have created several logos, as well as the visual branding for the podcast and Global Leader Plan webinars — these were exciting to work on. Recently I also handled the publication design for a series of annual reports for industry partners, which were well-received.

I love inline skating, and I am currently completing a diploma in clinical hypnosis!

I’m an English girl, living in Vancouver, Canada, with a passion for all things travel, social media and photography. What are your impressions of the WSAVA since you joined the team?
The passion, support and knowledge at WSAVA is the first thing that struck me – it really feels like a strong community and an exciting organization to be part of!
What do you most enjoy about your role?
I enjoy writing social media posts, sharing members’ content, creating visual graphics and exploring the best ways to engage and bring together veterinarians across the world. I love seeing, sharing, reading, learning and writing about all the interesting and important things WSAVA members are doing. It’s amazing to see such skill and compassion for animals, people and the veterinary profession.
What are you most proud of so far?
It’s been a joy to ensure that the content we’re sharing across all our platforms is engaging as many of our members as possible. You can see from the blog and social media countdown we created of the top 10 resources and information in 2020 just how valued our resources are and how many people we can reach as a community.

When I’m not working, I have combined my love of dogs and exploring and started a small dog walking business for people in my local area. It’s the perfect way to meet neighbours, make friends and spend time with some (very cute) dogs. I also get to explore more of Vancouver and the beautiful scenery it has to offer.
